Odour assessment services may include:

• Odour impact assessment – used to support planning applications. May include particular method such as: modelling, qualitative assessment, or monitoring.

• Qualitative odour risk assessment – desk-based odour risk assessment that predicts the likely odour impact and resulting effects at relevant sensitive receptors based on information relating to the odour emitting source.

• Modelling – used to predict odour exposure over a wide study area and over a long timeframe using an odour dispersion model and odour emissions data input.

• Monitoring – odour monitoring is conducted using sniff testing following IAQM guidance. Observational monitoring can be used to supplement a predictive qualitative assessment.

• Odour Management Plans (OMPs) - outlines control measures and the clients commitment(s) and strategy to manage odours from the operation.
